Circular Plastic Credits

VPCE

Voluntary Programme on Circular Economy (VPCE)

In essence, the VPCE serves as a financial support instrument for the recovery of materials throughout the value chain. It enables the marketing of Circular Economy Credits, which fund environmental services aimed at reducing and recirculating resources. This program underscores our commitment to sustainability and the principles of the circular economy.

Circular Economy Credits (CEC)

Circular Economy Credits (CEC) are international financing mechanisms that equate to the reduction or recirculation of one metric ton of materials. These credits provide a unique opportunity for organizations or consumers who wish to offset their material footprint and foster the development of Programs or Projects on Circular Economy Materials (PCEM). By acquiring these credits, stakeholders can actively contribute to the promotion of sustainable practices and the advancement of the circular economy.

How to certify your programme or project?

The Programs or Projects on Circular Economy Materiales (PECM) that adhere to the requirements outlined in the VPCE protocol and procedures are eligible for certification. Upon verification of compliance, a certification report is generated, paving the way for the registration and issuance of Circular Economy Credits.

Certified PMECs must undergo the stages of the voluntary Circular Economy certification cycle. This process ensures that all certified programs or projects maintain the highest standards of sustainability and contribute effectively to the principles of the circular economy.

STAGE 1: Formulation

During the formulation stage, the initial documents of the Programs or Projects on Circular Economy Materials (PECM) are thoroughly reviewed. This includes the location, Project Design Document (PDD), special power of representation, ODS tool, and supporting documents. It is also verified that the developer or owner of the PECM has a signed contract with the Voluntary Programme on Circular Economy (VPCE). This stage is crucial in ensuring that all necessary requirements and protocols are met before proceeding further in the certification process.

STAGE 2: Public comments

Upon approval of the formulation, the Programs or Projects on Circular Economy Materials (PECM) enters the public comments stage. This process is conducted on the Cercarbono, which remains open for a period of 30 calendar days. During this time, members of the public are invited to provide their feedback and insights, contributing to a more comprehensive and robust PECM.

STAGE 3: Validation

During this phase, the Validation and Verification Body (VVB) examines the validation documents. These documents include the Project Design Document (PDD), validation calculations, supporting documents, and others. The VVB ensures that all requirements for approval are met in a comprehensive and thorough manner. This rigorous process is crucial to maintain the integrity and reliability of the project.

STEP 4: Verification

In this step, the Validation and Verification Body (VVB) undertakes the task of reviewing the verification documents. These documents encompass verification calculations, the monitoring report, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) tool along with its supporting evidence, and other relevant documents. The VVB ensures that all prerequisites for the commencement of the certification process are fulfilled. This step is vital to ensure the project's compliance with established standards and guidelines.

STEP 5: Certification

This step involves a thorough review to ensure compliance with the requirements for the certification of the reduction or recirculation of materials reported during the verified period. Upon successful review, Circular Economy Credits (CEC) are issued. This process is integral to the validation of the project's efforts towards sustainable practices and the promotion of a circular economy.

It's possible to jointly carry out the validation and verification processes by an VVB, this depends on the needs of the program or project.

Register your Circular Economy Programme or Project

The VPCE uses EcoRegistry The Voluntary Programme on Circular Economy (VPCE) utilizes EcoRegistry as its official registration platform. EcoRegistry is a blockchain-based platform that ensures transparency in the accounting of the voluntary materials circularity market. It also provides security and traceability in the management of information related to initiatives for the reduction or recirculation of materials. This advanced technology platform is instrumental in maintaining the integrity and reliability of the circular economy programs and projects.
